Kyle Thompson
Hello, my name is Kyle Thompson and I aim to be intuitive through learning from others and experimenting. My favourite areas of practice within graphic design are video and experimental art. I’m excited by the evolving world of graphic design with the implementation of new technology bringing about new and creative ways of working. The world of design is changing, and I think this change can help bring awareness to issues across the world. In terms of hobbies I enjoy sports, particularly football and badminton, and I also cycle as a means of transport around my city.

Final Major Project: HST LEO 24/04/1990
The book is titled ‘HST LEO 24/04/1990’ standing for Hubble Space Telescope Low Earth Orbit and the date of its launch. The book focuses on its main discoveries with images from the NASA telescope shown alongside information on each discovery. There are 21 chapters in total that branch out to space enthusiasts, with the book designed primarily as a collectors item. Alongside page composition and editing imagery a custom set of letters and numbers were created for this book.
Project: D&AD
Client: Typhoo
Design an out of home campaign that encourages leisure upgraders aged over 25 to sign up for a 30 day free Audible trial.
“Eat sleep listen repeat” would resonate with the target audience as a spin on the popular saying from 90’s rave culture. The designs display a word from a different book on each to show how Audible reaches out through multiple genres, and that they have something for everyone.
Project: Goodnight Mr Tom Book Cover
Client: Penguin Student Design Award
The parcel on the front of the book and its exposed contents on the back represent the gift box that Zach gave to Will before he fatefully left for London near the end of the story. The contents of the parcel aren’t described in detail, so I had to make the items by hand from interpretation and then photograph and illustrate them to fit the softer children’s book genre.
Project: Editorial Beyond the Page
Use Augmented Reality to bring a design manifesto to life.
This double page spread is a redesign of the First Things First 2000 manifesto. Blue and green are used to represent the earth and the global problem that is consumerism. The DPS really comes to life when the AR is activated through the Artivive mobile app with new meaning introduced through key words and video.
